Who was Henry Matisse?
Henry Matisse was an influential French artists from the 20th century. He was most commonly known as a painter but also practiced other types of art such as printmaking, sculpting, graphic arts, and more.

Beatriz Milhazes: A master of vibrant compositions, blending Brazilian culture with modern abstraction to create dazzling visual symphonies.
Who is she?
Brazilian artist, Beatriz Milhazes was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1960. She is a mixed-media modernist artist, renowned for her vibrant and colorful collages, paintings and printmaking. She finds inspiration in Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian and Tarsila do Amaral. “My challenge has always been the same. I’m interested in life and my surroundings, but to make it work as a painting, I do need to think as a geometric and conceptual artist in my studio practice.”

Color & Spring
Why is Color Important in Art?
We see color everyday, from morning to night. When we go to a museum, we see the bright yellows, oranges and the strong cerulean blue, thalo blue colors like in A Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. Then we see dark and sad colors like in Pablo Picasso's Blue Period paintings. COLOR is what sets the TONE in paintings. As artists, we use the color wheel as a guidance to understand which color complement each other best.

Impressionism in the Studio
Impressionism lasted almost 26 years, it was developed by Claude Monet, a well know impressionist artist in the early 1860s. Former artists and artists today use impressionism in their paintings. During the month of July Priscilla & Tiffany's Art Academy will be teaching, painting and learning about impressionism, its origin, famous artists, how to be an impressionist and the type of techniques that were used in impressionism.

What is Pop Art?
It's all about the bright colors and trendy media. Artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein among other artists worked on Pop Art.

Ways We Use Geometric Shapes in Art
As artists we have always been fascinated by geometric shapes, finding creative ways to incorporate them into our masterpieces. There's many ways that we utilize geometric shapes. In the month of September, our artists learned how IMPORTANT geometric shapes were.

All About Fabric
Catching the delicate folds , texture like silk or roughness of fabric can be quite tricky. There's a lot of observing when sketching/painting the drape, wrinkles of the different materials and much more.
